Last week, Google rolled out Google for Jobs — a new feature that will see relevant job postings displayed directly in search results. This latest innovation in search pulls in jobs from the major jobs sites across the web and organizes that content in one place, making it faster and easier than ever before for the majority of candidates who begin their search on Google to source new and relevant employment opportunities.
Google for Jobs raises the bar for job search in multiple ways. For example, "for many jobs, you’ll also see reviews and ratings of the employer from trusted sites, right alongside the job description, and if you’re signed in, for some jobs you’ll even see how long it would take to commute to the job from home." Not only does the introduction of Google for Jobs make for a markedly more effective and all-round better candidate experience, hiring companies also stand to benefit from the move as it means their jobs will be more easily found by those best qualified for the role.
What this means for Clinch customers
Clinch now publishes jobs to Google Search automatically. While Google Search has always picked up jobs from Clinch, the difference with Google for Jobs comes via the addition of structured data to our customer's jobs pages. Not only does this result in a richer experience for the job seeker, the hiring company itself benefits from the following:
- "Prominent place in Search results: Your postings are eligible to be displayed in the dedicated Job Search UI, featuring your logo, reviews, ratings, and job details.
- More, motivated applicants: The new user experience enables job seekers to filter by various criteria like location or job title, meaning you’re more likely to attract applicants who are looking exactly for that job.
- Increased chances of discovery and conversion: Job seekers will have a new avenue to interact with your postings and click through to your site." (The Keyword)
Clinch is an early adopter of this latest iteration of Search, and we look forward to seeing the companies that use our platform reap the rewards of this newest innovation.
